What Does it Cost You?

Worth It Thursday.

We’re getting toward the end of the week and to help us make it to and through the weekend, I’d like to remind you again of why you are worth whatever you are being paid (or think you should be paid) and more.

Whatever you are doing, whatever you are making… there is a cost to you, that you have to pay.

Look at this as basic Business 101: If it costs you $5 to make a widget, you should be paid more than $5. Your time and energy has value, too.

Not to mention the opportunity cost.

Okay, I mentioned it. Now we’re in Econ 101! Or is it Accounting 101?

That’s not the point!

The point is this:

The time and energy and materials you used to make that widget, you could have done something else instead. Or made that widget for someone willing to pay more.

It should be obvious but it doesn’t always feel that way.

We all feel unappreciated sometimes, at work, at home, with loved ones, with friends. And of course, with bosses, coworkers and clients.

Don’t let them take you for granted… and don’t forget. You bring something special to your relationships, close and not-so-close. Lean into your gifts and share generously.

And know that you are worth all that and more.

What do you think?

See you tomorrow!
