Say thank you and build on it

Thanksgiving is coming up so the theme this week is gratitude.

When somebody pays you a compliment, say thank you.

Say thank you and then build on it.

Don’t deny it or deflect. Modesty has its place but not here.

You can and should give credit to your team, to those who helped you, but first acknowledge that somebody important just told you that you’re good at something important, and that you helped them, made their life easier.

Say thank you.

And take a moment to process this praise.

You just got some external recognition of your value and your contribution.

Internalize it and know it’s true.

Look for opportunities to build on this even more.

And be open when those opportunities come knocking.

Because it’s true, opportunity is looking for you.

See you tomorrow!
