Face Front! Friday! Here’s the Kicker
On On Tuesday, we talked about opportunity knocking.
Here’s the part we often leave out.
In the real world, opportunity rarely arrives with a spotlight or a perfect script.
It usually shows up as initiative.
- Are you the one who raises their hand before being asked?
- Are you the one who reached out first, instead of waiting to be noticed?
- Are you the one who schedules the conversation that feels slightly uncomfortable… uncomfortable but necessary?
Sometimes opportunity is knocking but it’s just a quiet tapping, barely audible if you’re not listening
And sometimes you have to be the one knocking.
And sometimes you have to knock louder.
And sometimes you have to kick down the door.
It doesn’t have to be that violent, really.
Kicking down the door can look like this:
- You speak up at meetings.
- You ask for feedback instead of waiting for praise
- You volunteer for the project that feels just outside your comfort zone
- You reach out to someone who might become a mentor, collaborator, or ally
And yes, it’s true, sometimes you knock, and no one answers.
That’s not failure.
That’s practice. It gets easier.
Because the real shift happens the moment you realize:
Your story doesn’t begin when the door opens.
Your story begins when you stand up and start moving.
So here’s today’s question:
Have you been waiting for someone to come to your door?
Have you been waiting for some desired door to open, anticipating your fateful knock?
It would help if you knocked instead of waiting.
Or if you just kicked that door down.
