You Shown It, You Own It

You’re in a meeting. You have an idea—a good one—but you don’t say it out loud. Sound familiar?
Yesterday, I talked about WISH—”Why’m I Sitting Here?” If you’re in the room, your presence matters. Your voice matters. But knowing that and actually speaking up? Two different things.
Because sometimes, it’s not about having an idea—it’s about deciding whether to share it.
Yesterday you read about WAIT—“Why Am I Talking?”—and so maybe you’re second-guessing yourself. Maybe you’ve seen too many bad ideas get shot down. Or maybe this isn’t your meeting, and you’re just there to receive the plan, not shape it.
But what if there’s another reason you’re staying quiet?
- You know it’s a good idea.
- You know it could spark progress.
- You also know it might land right back in your lap as extra work.
I get it. Maybe I’ve even been there myself. Maybe.
But here’s a thought—if you’re so sure your idea will lead to more work for you, why not take control of the conversation?
- Plan ahead. Be ready with a roadmap.
- Have a pre-meeting with key people to share responsibility.
- If leadership loves your idea, wouldn’t it be great to say, “I’m already working on it”?
Don’t hold back. Be the one who moves things forward.
What do you think?
